We treated 54 cases of rectal prolapse patients by A.D.S. from July 1981 till July 1985
and had results as follows 54 patients who were followed up for one year at our O.P.D.,
1) Therapy mode of .A.D.S. operation included operation technique of Modified
Altemeier Procedure, Modified Delorme Procedure, and internal an6 external sphincter
muscle repair.
2) We treated 71 times from 54 patients.
3) Of the 54 patients most common etiology were postoperative complication of
Hemorrhoid in 24 cases(44.4%), postoperative cx. of Hemorrhoid injection therapy in 15
cases(27.7%), postoperative anal fistula in 5 cases(9.2%), long history Hemorrhoid

cases(14.8%), complete obstetrical tear of perineum in 2 cases(3.7%).
4) The mean postoperative admission date was 6.j days in first operation, 5.8 days in
more than second operation.
5) Early complication(within 7 day) were slight bleeding(1∼2 Gauge was 54 cases
100%) but severe bleeding that required transfusion was not found. Mild or Moderate
pain that subsided within one or two days after opertaion was 52 cases(96.3%). Urinary
retention patients who required for one or two day of Urinary catheterization were
92.6% but all cases of urinary retention was improved within 2∼3 days after operation.
6) Late complication (within 6 weeks) were slight defecation difficult 38 cases (70.3%),
slight soiling 36 cases (66.7%), and all patients complain slight discomfort pruritus ani
and 1∼2 drop post-defecation bleeding.
7) Later complication (within 3 months) were slight bleeding(1∼2 drop post defecation
bleeding) 32cases(59.3%), pruritus am 30 cases(55.6%), slight discomfort 26 cases(48.1%),
slight soiling 4 cases(7.4%), and at one year after operation all patients didn't complain
any discomfort.
8) We treated Patients (27.8%,32 times) by second A.D.S. operation.
9) Early an4 Late complication were slight than first A.D.S. operation and at one year
after operation all patients didn't complain any discomfort.
